Balance test

This balance test measures how well you are able to stand on one leg, as it is important to have good balance to help prevent falls.

To complete this simple test you will need to have a sturdy chair, ideally against a wall to prevent it moving, and a watch or timer.

  1. Stand by the chair or supportive surface with your arms by your sides
  2. Lift one foot off the floor and start timing
  3. Try to stand on one leg (pick your best leg) for as long as you can
  4. Stop timing if you put your foot down or loose your balance and you have to hold on
  5. You are aiming for 45 seconds
